Cataloochee Ski Area Snow Report for 1/1/2010

SNOW REPORT for November 1, 2010

Date: 11/1/10 Time: 12pm Weather: 59 degrees, clear

Well"¦its what you have been waiting for and its here. With forecasted temps in the mid 20's beginning Thursday evening as well as some natural snowfall on the way on Thursday and Friday, we plan to begin making snow as soon as temperatures permit in order to open for our 49th year and the 2010/2011 season on Saturday, November 6. This marks another year of opening during the first week of November for Cataloochee! We will be updating this report as snowmaking begins to let you know our progress. Skiing hours on Saturday will be from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Persons planning on skiing on Saturday should call on Friday by noon for an updated report.

We have invested over $1.2 million dollars into capital improvements at Cataloochee over the summer months including the purchase of 2 new Pisten Bully snow groomers, installing 13,000 ft. of snowmaking pipeline, replacing all adult boots and over 700 adult skis in our main rental shop and replacing 24 snowmaking guns with new efficient automatic fanguns. We have also installed a new efficient six stick automatic snowgun system on Alley Cat, our racing trail. In addition, we have added a new second terrain park in the Turkey Trot area with four new snow guns. Busy summer...yes!
