Wed. & Sat. Waynesville Tailgate Market - American Legion parking lot near downtown Waynesville Haywood County grown vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, honey and nursery stock. 8 a.m. to noon.

1st "Ballroom Dance Classes" at the Maggie Valley Club. 6 - 8PM Fill your next few weeks with a new experience. Call to sign up 828-335-0588.

1st - 5th Labor Day Celebration in Canton. Rides, games, live entertainment. Labor Day parade will be on Monday at 10am. Come enjoy this annual event with the Town of Canton.

2nd & 3rd 41st Annual Smoky Mountain Folk Festival at Lake Junaluska Conference & Retreat Center will offer two nights of the finest traditional music and dance of the Southern Appalachian Region. Don't miss this free daylong event that offers traditional Cherokee food, where you will witness beadwork, basket weaving, sculpture, and woodworking crafted by Cherokee artisans practicing hundreds-of-years-old art techniques. 10th 2nd Annual Chestnut Saturday - Come to Cataloochee Ranch in Maggie Valley for a day of family fun. Event includes bluegrass music, clogging, tours of the chestnut orchard, crafts, vendors and delicious food. Free for children 12 and under. Adults $10 - 10am till 5pm

16th & 17th Southeastern Tribes Cultural Arts Celebration at Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds. This celebration will bring together master dancers, craftsmen, artists and athletes from the five main southeastern tribes. This event teaches and perpetuates the history and culture of these tribes through live demonstrations of traditional tribal dance, storytelling performances, craft demonstrations, primitive skills encampment and juried competitions. 18th "Photo Special Excursion" with the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. 30th - Oct. 16th "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" at HART Theatre, Waynesville. This hilarious show is full of heart and went on to become one of Broadway's biggest hits. "No holds barred" by the contestants in this years annual spelling bee. For reservations call 829-456-6522.
