In an effort to give back, Ghost Town is sponsoring a Haywood County appreciation Saturday, Sept. 8, with all proceeds going toward the Haywood County School Foundation. The School Foundation provides assistance to local families, scholarships and general aid to the school community.

"Haywood County has been very good to Ghost Town in the Sky, and we would love to show our appreciation with a day dedicated to family fun and entertainment," Ghost Town's owner Alaska Presley said. "It will be a day filled with crafts, food and entertainment by local musicians, craftsmen and restaurateurs."

Jenny Wood Executive Director of the School Foundation states, "It is our pleasure to be affiliated with Ghost Town in the Sky," said Jenny Wood, executive director of the school foundation. "The School Foundation provides an important function for the community and it always helps to have local businesses participate in fund raising. We thank Ghost Town for their assistance."

For information on the foundation, call Wood at 456-2400.

"We are very excited about our affiliation with the Haywood County School Foundation," said Presley. "The service they provide to the community makes us proud to be partners with them."

Reopened July 4th, Ghost Town in the Sky has received positive feedback from the community. The zip lines and the chairlift are popular and have attracted many visitors. For those who choose the chairlift, there is a tour of the Western Town, the Museum, the shooting gallery and the arcade. Some visitors will also see characters from the Wild West. The zip line has four tree houses and three lines, which span more than 900 feet.
