It's another Thursday and we know that means you're probably already dreaming about the weekend. Don't worry, we are too. Some of you might be excited to spend some quality time with Netflix for a few days. Some of you might want to catch up on some much needed sleep. But for those of you who want to get out of the house, we've come up with some ideas to keep you busy over the weekend.
LEAF Festival in Downtown Asheville
The 2nd annual LEAF Downtown AVL will take place this weekend, July 30 & 31, in Pack Square Park.
LEAF Downtown AVL will feature a wealth of community partner programming including the return of our Voices of Asheville tent, dozens of family adventures activities, three stages featuring local, regional & national talent, 80+ local culinary and craft arts vendors curated in part by Asheville Grown, roaming performers galore, a one-of-a-kind VIP experience and our second annual LEAF Art Dash 5K.
The event is FREE and will have tons of live music, art, and good food! You can find more info on the festival on their website here.
Slice of Life Comedy Showcase
Head on down to The Social on Tunnel Road in Asheville on Friday night, July 29, for a night full of laughs! There will be two FREE comedy shows back-to-back, with the first show starting at 8pm. For more info on the event, check out their Facebook page here.
Folkmoot's International Festival Day
Main Street in Waynesville will be closed off to traffic on Saturday, July 30, for their annual Folkmoot International Festival Day! There will be 2 stages for performances & dance lessons, but don't worry- there will be plenty of dancing in the street, as well.
For the 2016 Festival groups will travel from China, the Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Ghana, Japan, Peru, Poland, Romania and a special U.S-Mexico collaboration. The 2016 Festival will also include performances by the Eastern Band of Cherokee and other local Appalachian groups.
International Festival is FREE and will run from 10am to 5pm. In addition to the entertainment, there will be all kinds of booths to check out and plenty of great food to enjoy. Go check it out!
Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale
The Waynesville Public Library is hosting their annual book sale starting today, July 28, through Sunday, July 31. The sale opens at 9am each day and will have books priced as low as 50 cents a piece! Head on down to Haywood Street to get in on the great sales and support your local library!
